UAE Launches “UAE Stands with Lebanon” Campaign with Massive Aid Effort

Abu Dhabi [UAE], October 13: The national campaign “UAE Stands with Lebanon” was inaugurated today with 200 tons of aid out of 10,000 relief packages prepared by 4,000 volunteers, as part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to support and aid its brothers and sisters. Lebanese people, and to alleviate the current humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.

Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of State for Development Affairs and International Organizations, said, “We extend a helping hand to provide aid and relief to all, embodying the UAE’s humanitarian principles and its deep-rooted fraternal values ​​that call for unity and cooperation.” Victims of wars and conflicts address the plight of Lebanon and meet their basic needs.

The “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign affirms the solidarity of all sectors of UAE society with the Lebanese people, and continues to work to provide relief to those in need, including the wounded and injured. This national campaign has a message. Faith and solidarity with the people of Lebanon.”

He highlighted the UAE’s swift response with President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan directing the delivery of US$100 million in aid to the Lebanese people. His Highness also allocated US$30 million in emergency relief packages for displaced Lebanese citizens in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Al Shamsi added, “As part of the UAE’s support and commitment to provide assistance to the people of Lebanon in difficult humanitarian situations, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the delivery of emergency aid. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) ) to help benefit 250,000 people in Lebanon.

He added, “Since October 4, the UAE has dispatched nine planes in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and several international partners.

The International Committee of the Red Cross and the Federation of Red Cross Societies (ICRC) IFRC) – is carrying 375 tons of essential food, relief and shelter supplies to Lebanon, and regular humanitarian flights will depart in the next few days.”

These initiatives confirm the UAE’s leading global position in relief with Lebanon, reflecting the UAE’s historic and longstanding support for the Lebanese people.

The campaign was launched on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Expo City Dubai from 09:00 to 13:00. Further campaign events will take place on Sunday at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal, in conjunction with AD Ports – under the supervision of Emirates Red Crescent, with additional events planned for other emirates in the future.
