Public transport, taxis, and shared mobility services see massive demand during the holiday period

Dubai RTA Reports 6.39 Million Passengers During Eid Al Fitr Holidays

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that a total of 6.39 million passengers used public transport, taxis, and shared mobility services during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, from March 30 to April 1.

Among the most popular services, the Dubai Metro (which includes both the Red and Green Lines) transported 2.428 million people, while the Dubai Tram had 111,130 riders.

1.33 million commuters used public buses, and 408,991 people boarded marine transport services such as abras, ferries, and water taxis.

Meanwhile, taxis, including the Dubai Taxi Corporation and private franchise operators, completed 1.687 million trips, while shared mobility services (such as e-hail taxis, hourly vehicle rentals, and on-demand bus services) supplied 429,616 rides.

Future of Mobility in Dubai

Looking ahead, self-driving taxis are expected to become a part of Dubai’s transportation environment.
The RTA has increased its agreements with providers of autonomous driving technology, with the goal of introducing driverless taxis by 2026. This effort is consistent with Dubai’s aim for smart and sustainable urban mobility, which improves convenience and efficiency for residents and visitors.
