Sharjah declares free parking on New Year’s day

Free parking on Sharjah Public Parking

As part of the celebrations for the New Year, Sharjah Municipality has announced public free parking. On Monday, January 1, 2024, residents in Sharjah City will benefit from an exemption from parking fees. The standard paid parking system is set to resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Vehicle owners must note that this exemption does not apply to the seven-day paid public parking zones, which remain operational throughout the week, including official holidays, and are identified by the blue parking information signs. However, regular parking fees will apply on Sunday.

The emirate penalizes those who fail to pay for parking with a fine of Dh150, according to the civic body. Staying on beyond the stipulated time will incur a fine of Dh100. It is a serious offence to park in reserved spaces such as those for motorists with disabilities, which carries a fine of Dh1,000.

Additionally, Abu Dhabi and Dubai have announced free parking during New Year’s celebrations.
