Syria Eases Entry for Omani Citizens with On-Spot Visa at Checkpoints

In a bid to strengthen bilateral ties and promote tourism, Syria has announced that Omani citizens can now obtain entry visas directly at border checkpoints. The Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Muscat revealed this development, highlighting the move as a reflection of the deep fraternal relations between the people of Oman and Syria.

Dr. Idris Maya, Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Oman, shared the news in a statement to the state-run Oman News Agency. He emphasized that this decision aligns with the recommendations of a joint government committee that convened in Muscat in July 2023. The step is seen as a gesture to enhance economic cooperation, commercial exchange, and tourism between the two nations, elevating these aspects to the level of their distinguished political relations.

This initiative eliminates the need for Omani citizens to visit Syrian embassies or consulates abroad to secure an entry visa. Dr. Idris assured that the Syrian embassy in Muscat is fully prepared to address any inquiries related to this matter and provide assistance to Omanis planning to visit Syria for various reasons.
