Residents of the United Arab Emirates are increasingly using Saudi Arabia’s stopover visa to conduct Umrah while traveling for business or pleasure, which can save them up to 50%. Those looking to combine their trip with other vacation plans are finding this affordable travel option very advantageous.

An Egyptian expat living in the United Arab Emirates, Abdel Hadi, described how he came upon this affordable option. When his parents traveled to the United Arab Emirates and declared their intention to do the pilgrimage, Hadi, who had not been aware of the possibility, sought for a conventional Umrah visa. The Saudi stopover visa, which his travel agent recommended, turned out to be a far more affordable option. With lodging, food, and airline tickets included, a group of six was able to finish the pilgrimage for just Dh8,000, compared to the over Dh15,000 it would have cost with a standard Umrah package.

Businesswoman Amina S. Mohideen, who lives in Dubai, also took use of this stopover visa. She frequently visited London and started taking advantage of the stopover option when Saudi Arabian Airlines launched it. She used to pay about Dh2,000 for a three-day Umrah journey, but today it only costs about Dh1,500, which includes lodging, meals, and transportation. She also appreciated the flexibility of the visa, which allows her to perform Umrah without having to make a second trip.

The stopover visa was also a huge benefit for Shahbaz Ali, a managing director in Dubai. He highlighted how the flying schedules precisely matched the pilgrimage’s customs, enabling him to conduct Umrah without interfering with his hectic schedule. “It’s an excellent option for those with tight schedules who want to fulfil their religious obligations while on the go,” he said.

When traveling for business or pleasure, many people choose to use the stopover visa, demonstrating the growing popularity of this travel option. According to Qaiser Mehmood, a representative of Asaa Tours and Travels, the stopover visa offers travelers an affordable option to include Umrah in their itinerary. As a smooth and cost-effective approach, some tourists even forego hotel accommodations, conducting Umrah in Makkah before returning to the airport to catch their subsequent trip.

Residents of the United Arab Emirates have the ideal opportunity to fulfill their religious obligations without incurring significant travel expenses thanks to the stopover visa, which permits tourists to stay in Saudi Arabia for a maximum of four days.
