UAE Freezes Military Ties with France After Durov’s Arrest

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is considering the possibility of a complete blockade of military-technical cooperation with France following the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in Paris. This is reported by the portal media Avia.Pro.

“The UAE is considering the possibility of a complete ban on military-technical cooperation with France following the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Duro in Paris,” says the portal’s Telegram channel.

Following Durov’s arrest, the UAE has already frozen a deal to buy 80 fighter jets from France, according to media reports.
Note that Durov is a citizen of the United Arab Emirates, among others.

EADaily reports that the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on France to allow Pavel Duro, detained in Paris, as a citizen of the UAE, access to all necessary consular services.

Emirates is closely following the case of Emirati citizen Pavel Duro, the founder of the Telegram social network, who was detained by French authorities at Le Bourget airport. They requested the French government to urgently provide all necessary consular services,” the release said.
