UAE President Meets Montenegrin Prime Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Relations and Sign Key Agreements
High-Level Diplomatic Discussions in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Milojko Spajić, Prime Minister of Montenegro, during his working visit to the United Arab Emirates. The meeting, which was held at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, aimed to expand cooperation and strengthen strategic connections between the two nations.
Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the visiting Prime Minister and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with Montenegro. Spajić acknowledged Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović’s greetings and thanked the UAE for its continuous support and friendship.
Increasing economic and strategic cooperation
The discussions focused on improving collaboration in critical areas such as trade, renewable energy, food security, and infrastructure. The two leaders underlined their shared commitment to building economic links that will generate long-term prosperity and growth in both countries.
The UAE President highlighted the country’s long-term investments in Montenegro, particularly in renewable energy and infrastructure, which demonstrate the UAE’s commitment to expanding development ties across the Balkans. He also said the UAE is committed to supporting diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace, security and economic stability..
Prime Minister Spajić underlined Montenegro’s desire to strengthen relationships with the UAE and capitalize on opportunities that match with their strategic objectives.
Signing of Bilateral Agreements
The signing of two bilateral agreements to strengthen economic and tourism cooperation was a major feature of the summit. The agreements were signed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Milojko Spajić, Montenegrin Prime Minister.
These accords are an important step toward strengthening economic connections and encouraging investment and tourism exchanges between the two countries.
High-Level Delegation in Attendance
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, attended the meeting, as did Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and other senior UAE officials. The Montenegrin group also included senior ministers and high-ranking officials, highlighting both governments’ commitment to expanding their strategic alliance.
The visit reinforces the UAE’s role as a vital partner in Montenegro’s economic development and reflects larger efforts to strengthen diplomatic and commercial connections across the Balkans.
