Nakheel and DEWA Partner to Build 132 kV Substations in Palm Jebel Ali
Nakheel, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has formed a strategic partnership with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to construct two new substations on Palm Jebel Ali, with an investment of AED 270 million. This collaboration aims to meet the growing energy demands of the development, particularly in key areas such as the fronds and spine of the island.
With a capacity of 200 MVA each, the 132/11 kV substations will be essential to Palm Jebel Ali’s infrastructure, increasing the overall electricity supply to 400 MVA. This will guarantee the seamless functioning of the island’s commercial, residential, and tourism amenities, particularly the upscale luxury villas that are presently under construction.
DEWA will supervise the entire project, including the award, construction, and tendering stages, as per the agreement. The substations’ completion will coincide with Palm Jebel Ali’s overall growth timeline, guaranteeing that the island’s expanding residential and commercial district will have a sufficient supply of energy to meet its rising demand.
These substations are expected to be vital not only for providing the necessary power to Palm Jebel Ali but also for strengthening the island’s sustainability and infrastructure, reinforcing Dubai’s vision of creating a modern and energy-efficient urban landscape.
