UAE and Sweden Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation
Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC), hosted a meeting today with Dag Hartelius, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The discussions, held at the FNC headquarters in Abu Dhabi, focused on enhancing collaboration between the UAE and Sweden through parliamentary channels.
With special focus on important areas such economic partnerships, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, investments in the green economy, and developments in contemporary technology, the summit highlighted the two countries’ expanding bilateral ties. The value of parliamentary diplomacy as a tactical instrument to assist and enhance conventional diplomatic initiatives was reaffirmed by both parties.
Shared Vision for Regional and Global Stability
During the discussions, Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted the UAE’s foundational values of tolerance, coexistence, and peaceful cooperation, principles deeply embedded in its national identity since the Union’s inception. He stressed the UAE’s commitment to fostering global relations that promote peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Regional issues were also on the agenda, with both parties acknowledging the importance of joint efforts to stabilize the region. Dr. Al Nuaimi pointed out the UAE’s proactive approach to diplomacy, which prioritizes constructive dialogue and collaborative solutions for regional and global challenges.
Sweden’s Commitment to Strengthening Ties
Dag Hartelius stated that Sweden is keen to expand its collaboration with the United Arab Emirates in a number of areas. The UAE’s quick development and thriving trade and investment environment, which continues to draw Swedish companies and investors, were commended by him.
Furthermore, he praised the positive trajectory of UAE-Sweden relations, characterizing it as evidence of respect for one another and common objectives in promoting economic growth, sustainability, and innovation.

Concluding the meeting, Hartelius extended his warm congratulations to the UAE on its 53rd Eid Al Etihad, commending the nation’s achievements and wishing it continued prosperity and development.
This meeting underlined the UAE and Sweden’s shared commitment to enhancing parliamentary ties while fostering cooperation in innovation-driven sectors, creating a strong foundation for long-term bilateral relations.
