South Korean team to visit UAE for high-speed rail and infrastructure project talks

High-level delegation visits UAE to advance rail connectivity and boost infrastructure cooperation

South Korea Boosts UAE Engagement with Focus on High-Speed Rail and Infrastructure Partnerships

Seoul, April 16:
A top-level South Korean delegation, headed by Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Park Sang-woo, is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this week to advance collaboration on major infrastructure initiatives — particularly the proposed high-speed rail network connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

According to South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, this strategic visit aims to strengthen Seoul’s bid for the UAE’s ambitious transport projects while deepening bilateral cooperation in infrastructure development.

The delegation, which includes key players from both the public and private sectors such as Korea National Railway, Korea Railroad Corp. For the UAE Railway Project (KORAIL), Hyundai Rotem and POSCO E&C have already passed the pre-qualification stage. Leveraging its successful project bids in countries such as Uzbekistan and Morocco, the next round of talks will showcase South Korea’s cutting-edge technology and economic engineering approaches.

Minister Park is scheduled to meet with UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei on Friday. The talks will also review commitments outlined in a memorandum of understanding signed during the UAE President’s visit to South Korea last year. By leveraging South Korea’s technical expertise and the UAE’s strong financial networks, the agreement lays the foundation for cooperative efforts in global infrastructure development, particularly in areas affected by post-conflict rehabilitation.

This visit is an important step in strengthening South Korea’s long-standing strategic partnerships with the UAE and expanding its infrastructure footprint globally.
