Shabab Al Ahli Triumph 2-1 Over Ajman in UAE Pro League Thriller

Shabab Al Ahli beat Ajman 2-1 in a thrilling match at the Rashid Bin Zayed Stadium on Friday night.

The match was part of matchweek two of the ADNOC UAE Pro League for the 2024-2025 season.

Shabab Al Ahli took the lead in the 26th minute when Bogdan Blahnik capitalized on a brilliant set piece to score a superb goal.

The Dubai club doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Sardar Azmom followed up with good control and scored with a composed finish inside the box.

But Ajman fought back and pulled one back four minutes later. Junior Flemings scored with a powerful header to reduce the deficit to 2-1 and restore the hosts’ confidence.

There was a lot of play, especially in the first half.

Ajman went close in the 11th minute through Higal Chikawi’s fierce shot but Shabab Al Ahli goalkeeper Hassan Hamza made a brilliant save to level the scores. Later, in first-half stoppage time, Ajman conceded a penalty, but after a VAR consultation, the referee overturned the decision.

Shabab Al Ahli kept up the pressure in the second half and an offside call canceled out Azmoun’s early goal but the visitors remained in control. Ajman’s attempts to equalize were thwarted several times by Shabab Al Ahli’s strong defensive effort.

Shabab Al Ahli’s win took their total to six points and moved them to third place in the UAE Pro League standings. Still searching for their first points of the season, Ajman are 11th.

Meanwhile, Al Nasr continued their impressive run in the league by defeating Bani Yass 4-1 at the Al Maktoum Stadium.

Al Nasser took an early lead in the match and maintained control, with goals from Adel Tarabt, Othman Bousaid, Ali Mabghout and Abdella Toure securing victory. Bani Yas managed to equalize through Yusuf Nigate but Al Nasser’s dominance was undeniable

Al Jazeera made a disappointing start to the season with a 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Al Orouba.

Newcomer Mohamed Elneny scored the only goal of the game in the 45th minute after providing a superb header assist, deflecting Raby’s header away from the opener.

Al Jazira failed to convert clear-cut chances, especially in the first half when they dominated play.

After two rounds of matches in the UAE Pro League, Al Nasser lead the table with six points, ahead of second-placed Dubai club Sharjah (six points) and third-placed Shabab Al Ahli (six points) on goal difference.

Defending champions Al Wasl, who beat Tippa Al His 1-0 on Thursday, are sixth. (with entries from UAE Pro League)
