Saudi Arabia announces fines for Hajj violations in 2024

Ministry of Interior Imposes Fine of 10,000 Riyals for Unauthorized Entry During Pilgrimage Season

Saudi Arabia Announces Strict Penalties for Violating Hajj Regulations in 2024

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has issued stringent penalties for contravening Haj rules and regulations for the year 2024, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to ensuring the smooth and orderly conduct of the pilgrimage. The directives, aimed at maintaining the sanctity and safety of the holy sites, outline severe consequences for individuals found in violation of prescribed regulations.

One of the primary measures announced is the imposition of a substantial fine amounting to 10,000 riyals, approximately equivalent to Dh 9,800, on individuals caught without a valid Haj permit in designated areas. These areas include the city of Mecca, central areas, sacred sites, the Al-Haramain Train Station in Al-Rasifa, security control centers, temporary security control centers, and sorting centers. This significant penalty underscores the seriousness with which the Kingdom regards adherence to Haj regulations, serving as a deterrent against unauthorized entry into restricted zones.

The implementation of the penalty is scheduled to commence from June 2, 2024, and will remain in effect until June 20, 2024. During this period, authorities will rigorously enforce the prescribed penalties to uphold the integrity of the pilgrimage and ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims.

Furthermore, the Ministry has underscored its commitment to upholding the law by addressing the issue of residents found residing in non-designated areas without the requisite permit. Such individuals will face deportation to their home countries as per Saudi law, in addition to being barred from re-entering the Kingdom for specified periods. This measure aims to deter individuals from flouting regulations and safeguard the sanctity of the pilgrimage experience for all participants.

In a bid to deter future transgressions, the Ministry has emphasized that repeat violations will incur double the initial fine amount, underscoring the seriousness of non-compliance with established regulations. By imposing stringent penalties and reinforcing the importance of adherence to Haj rules, Saudi Arabia remains steadfast in its commitment to facilitating a safe and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience for all participants.
