RTA's Ramadan initiatives: 8,000 iftar meals, tent for employees, bus, bikers, and truck drivers

In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a comprehensive array of humanitarian and community-driven initiatives under the theme ‘Journey of Good’. These initiatives, carried out in collaboration with volunteers from the RTA, Keolis (Dubai Metro and Tram’s Operator), aim to foster community engagement and teamwork, emphasizing a spirit of giving and unity.

Ramadan-Focused Activities and Initiatives: The initiatives are geared towards fostering inclusivity within the community, encompassing the RTA’s employees, bus drivers, delivery bikers, truck drivers, workers, and Abra riders.

External Initiatives:

  1. Modes of Good: The Modes of Good initiative is an expanded version of RTA’s annual Meals On Wheels effort. This charitable endeavor involves mobilizing RTA’s staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds to prepare and distribute 8,000 meals during Ramadan. Specially designated buses and Abras are utilized for the distribution, focusing on supporting bus drivers, delivery bike riders, truck drivers, and Abra riders. Volunteers also make special visits to worker accommodations to distribute meals, reinforcing community bonds.
  2. Ramadan Tent Project: In collaboration with charitable societies, RTA is launching the Ramadan Tent Project, in partnership with the Beit Al Khair Society. This initiative aims to provide 2,000 Iftar meals to fasting individuals through the setup of a dedicated tent.
  3. We Bring You Closer: Developed in cooperation with Keolis, the Dubai Metro and Tram’s operator, the We Bring You Closer Initiative targets public transport users and stations, including Al Ghubaiba, Union, and Jebel Ali Metro stations. This humanitarian effort facilitates connections with family and friends by installing four telephone booths at these metro stations, allowing individuals to reach out to their loved ones.

Internal Initiatives: Internally, RTA employees are engaged in various initiatives, such as ‘How to Prepare for Ramadan’. This consists of three remote workshops designed to highlight healthy fasting habits and the importance of maintaining a balanced diet.

The ‘Who Will Win the Fanoos?’ initiative introduces competitions with voucher prizes, promoting camaraderie and friendly competition among employees. To encourage communication, RTA has initiated the Ramadan Bazaar and Iftar Gathering, providing a platform for staff members and leaders to come together over the Iftar meal, fostering a sense of unity and shared celebration.
