Dubai: After months of speculation and unexpected production delays, the much-anticipated sequel to Lucifer, L2: Empuraan, is officially scheduled to release in UAE cinemas on March 27, 2025. The film, which was directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and starred Mohanlal, was uncertain because of rumored disputes between its original producers, Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas.
But in a significant move, Prithviraj revealed on Saturday that Sree Gokulam Movies has joined Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions as a co-producer. It is anticipated that this action will guarantee stable and easy progress for the enormous project.
Production Delay Speculation Dispelled
Industry insiders had pointed out that the film’s sluggish advertising rollout suggested potential conflicts within the production team prior to the official announcement. Fans’ fears grew as a result of the lack of updates on the film’s development.
Addressing these concerns, Sree Gokulam Movies chairman Gokulam Gopalan confirmed his involvement in an interview with Reporter Live, stating that he stepped in to facilitate the film’s timely release.
“It is essential to resolve such issues so that the film industry does not face setbacks. I believe the matter has now been settled,” Gopalan stated.
Lyca Productions’ Role Remains Unclear
While details regarding the financial restructuring of the project have not been disclosed, Gokulam Gopalan did not confirm whether Lyca Productions had sold its stake in the film.
His statement did, however, imply that Lyca would be drastically cutting back on its role, which could indicate a change in the production’s financial arrangement.
“Large-scale productions frequently involve these kinds of exchanges. The proper channels are used to implement financial modifications,” he said.
