President Sheikh Mohamed Strengthens US-UAE Ties in Meetings with Top US Officials

President Sheikh Mohammed met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan on Tuesday as part of his official visit to the US.

During the meetings, he discussed strategic ties and joint efforts to strengthen ties at various levels, state news agency Wam reported. Particular attention was paid to developments in the Middle East and the importance of working to prevent the escalation of war in Gaza.

Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon, Adviser on Special Affairs, also attended the meeting with Mr Sullivan. US President Joe Biden welcomed Sheikh Mohammed to the White House on Monday for the first meeting between a United Arab Emirates and US president sitting on US soil since the emirate’s establishment in 1971.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the country’s “unwavering commitment” to its relations with the United States. Speaking about the “power of partnership” during the talks, he said he was looking forward to discussing relations between their countries.

A joint report focusing on trade, climate, foreign policy and space exploration was later released.

On Sunday, Sheikh Mohammed visited the Children’s National Hospital in Washington and was briefed on the hospital’s specialty units.
