Oman’s natural gas production increased by 4.9%

Muscat: Oman’s natural gas sector has experienced a significant uptick, with the total domestic production of natural gas increasing by 4.9% to reach 49.444 billion cubic meters by the end of November 2023. This marks a notable growth compared to the same period in 2022 when the output stood at about 47.113 billion cubic meters.

Data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) highlighted that industrial projects played a pivotal role, constituting 58.4% of the natural gas production in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of November 2023, amounting to 28.89 billion cubic meters.

Breaking down the utilization of natural gas, the NCSI data revealed that the oil fields consumed 12.36 billion cubic meters, power generation stations utilized 7.94 billion cubic meters, and the industrial sector accounted for 240.10 million cubic meters.

A noteworthy aspect is the non-associated production of natural gas, inclusive of imports, which totaled 39.29 billion cubic meters. Additionally, the associated production reached 10.14 billion cubic meters.
