MoHRE Sets Deadline for Emiratisation Targets Amid Economic Growth
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has set a definitive deadline of 30th June for achieving Emiratisation targets for the first half of 2024. These targets specifically aim to increase the presence of UAE citizens in skilled positions within companies employing 50 or more individuals, as mandated by decisions from the Council of Ministers.
In a detailed press statement, MoHRE announced its intention to commence verification of companies’ compliance with these targets starting 1st July. This verification process will assess whether companies have met the required quotas for Emirati employees in skilled roles. Non-compliant entities will potentially face financial penalties, underscoring MoHRE’s commitment to enforcing Emiratisation policies effectively.
MoHRE also took the opportunity to commend those companies that have successfully achieved the prescribed growth in Emirati workforce participation. The ministry emphasized the importance of not only hiring Emirati citizens but also ensuring their inclusion in essential social security systems such as pension funds and the Wage Protection System (WPS). Companies were urged to maintain and sustain the achieved growth rates by the deadline to avoid penalties and contribute positively to the national employment objectives.
Reflecting on the broader economic impact, MoHRE expressed confidence in the business community’s ability to meet these obligations amidst the UAE’s dynamic economic growth. The integration of Emirati citizens into the private sector is seen as pivotal for enhancing productivity and fostering sustainable economic development across various industries.
Furthermore, MoHRE encouraged companies still striving to meet their Emiratisation targets to leverage the Nafis Programme’s digital platform. This platform serves as a valuable resource, connecting businesses with a diverse pool of qualified Emirati job seekers across different specializations. By facilitating access to skilled local talent, MoHRE aims to support companies in fulfilling their Emiratisation goals effectively, thereby contributing to the overall economic prosperity and social development of the UAE.
