UAE Hosts First Ramadan Football Championship in Beijing, Strengthening Diplomatic Ties


Beijing, March 22: The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the League of Arab States Mission jointly organized the first-ever Ramadan football championship in Beijing from March 14 to 16.
The event promoted sportsmanship, cross-cultural interaction, and friendship by bringing together diplomats and football fans from different embassies in China.

Mohamed Abdel Latif Hamed, the Chargé d’Affaires of the League of Arab States Mission in China, and Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Ambassador to China, gave keynote addresses at the tournament’s opening ceremony.
They emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting unity and strengthening diplomatic relationships among participating nations.

Teams from different embassies demonstrated their skill and love for the game in a fierce rivalry at the finals. In addition to being a competitive event, it provided a forum for promoting understanding and fortifying diplomatic missions’ relationships.

The winning teams and exceptional athletes received trophies and medals from the UAE Ambassador and the League of Arab States ambassador during the closing ceremony, which honored their accomplishments and sportsmanship.

The three-day event successfully blended the universal appeal of football with the principles of togetherness, solidarity, and goodwill that characterize Ramadan. It reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and emphasized the importance that sports play in bridging cultural divides.
