Du and Microsoft ink $544M deal for new UAE data center
Strategic partnership to enhance cloud infrastructure, drive AI innovation, and strengthen UAE’s global tech position

Du and Microsoft Partner on $544M Hyperscale Data Center to Accelerate UAE’s Digital Growth
Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (du) has inked a historic deal with Microsoft for 2 billion dirhams (about $544.54 million) in an effort to solidify the UAE’s standing as a pioneer in digital innovation. The agreement, announced during Dubai AI Week, will lead to the construction of a state-of-the-art hyperscale data center in the country.
The new data center will meet the region’s growing demand for advanced cloud and data services. Microsoft will be the anchor tenant, and the center’s architecture will be implemented gradually to meet changing capacity requirements. These kinds of hyperscale data centers are essential for meeting massive processing and storage demands, and they are valuable resources for companies and government agencies going through digital transformation.
“This ambitious project is in line with our larger objective of supporting national strategies aimed at technological innovation and digital empowerment,” said Du, which now oversees five data centers throughout the United Arab Emirates. To position itself as a global leader in technology, particularly outside of more established technical hubs like the US, the UAE government is investing heavily in infrastructure, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.
Microsoft is anticipated to greatly increase its regional footprint and improve its capacity to provide cloud and enterprise services in the Middle East as a result of the partnership. In order to speed up the development of digital infrastructure and services, it also draws attention to the expanding trend of partnerships between significant international technology firms and local telecom providers.
The UAE is reiterating its commitment to becoming a major hub for AI and digital transformation and fortifying its basis for a knowledge-based economy with this action.
