Mumbai:
Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowlers showcased their mettle as they successfully defended a modest total, securing a 24-run victory over Mumbai Indians in an intense Indian Premier League match held here on Friday.
This victory marked a significant milestone for KKR, as it was their first win over MI in Mumbai in over a decade, adding an extra layer of importance to the triumph. Opting to bowl first, Jasprit Bumrah led MI’s bowling attack admirably, producing a stellar performance with figures of 3 wickets for just 18 runs, ultimately restricting KKR to a modest total of 169.
Nuwan Thushara, the Sri Lankan medium pacer, made significant inroads into KKR’s top-order, complementing Bumrah’s efforts. Meanwhile, skipper Hardik Pandya also contributed with the ball, securing two crucial wickets and further bolstering MI’s bowling prowess.
Despite the challenging conditions, Venkatesh Iyer and Manish Pandey stood out for KKR with notable contributions of 70 runs off 52 balls and 42 runs off 31 balls, respectively, guiding their team to a decent yet slightly below-par total.

KKR’s Mitchell Starc emerged as the standout performer with an impressive bowling display, claiming 4 wickets for 33 runs and wreaking havoc on MI’s batting lineup. He received valuable support from Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell, each contributing with two wickets apiece, as KKR clinched a memorable victory over their formidable opponents.
