Justice Served: Woman Sentenced to Imprisonment and Fine for Assault
In a recent ruling, the Fujairah Federal Court has sentenced a woman to two months in prison and imposed a fine of Dh3,000 for assaulting a man in a residential building. The court’s decision comes in response to a complaint filed by the victim, who suffered injuries in the unprovoked attack.
The victim, upon entering his residential building, faced verbal abuse and aggression from the assailant, a woman known to him. Despite threats to involve the police, the situation escalated, leading to a physical assault. The woman scratched the man’s face, causing injuries that prevented him from performing his work for over 20 days.
Following the assault, the victim promptly filed a police report, initiating legal proceedings against the accused. The accused initially confessed to the charges during police questioning, but later retracted her statements during the investigations, denying any wrongdoing.
The Fujairah Federal Court, after careful consideration of the evidence, including the victim’s medical examination confirming injuries, found the accused guilty. Despite her attempts to shift blame and present a different narrative, the court determined that there was no room for doubt regarding her involvement in the crime.
In absentia, the court sentenced the woman to two months in prison and imposed a Dh3,000 fine, underscoring the severity of the assault. The legally prescribed judicial fee was also applied as part of the punitive measures.
The court’s verdict serves as a reminder of the commitment to justice and the consequences for those found guilty of assault. The legal system’s swift response reinforces the importance of accountability and upholding the safety and well-being of individuals within the community.
