Indian Navy Chief Visits UAE to Bolster Defense Cooperation and Strengthen Strategic Maritime Relations
NEW DELHI: In a move to strengthen India-UAE defense ties, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi will visit the UAE from 21-24 October 2024.
The Indian Navy said on Monday, “The visit is aimed at strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries, in line with the deepening comprehensive strategic partnership in all sectors, consolidating bilateral maritime relations between India and the UAE and exploring new avenues of cooperation. between the two fleets.”
The CNS is scheduled to hold discussions with Rear Admiral Pilot Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Commander of the UAE Navy and other senior government officials of the UAE.
He is scheduled to visit the National Defense College of the United Arab Emirates, where he will interact with student officers. During this visit, CNS will also visit the 3rd edition of India-UAE Bilateral Naval Exercise.
Cooperative engagements between the Indian Navy and the UAE Navy include operational interactions through port calls, bilateral naval exercises and mutual visits, Navy-Navy staff talks and the Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC).The 12th edition of the Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC) between India and the United Arab Emirates was held on July 09, 2024 in Abu Dhabi. The India-UAE JDCC was established in 2006.
In February this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his seventh official visit to the UAE since 2015 and his third visit in the last eight months.
Later, in September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly welcomed Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in Delhi, and the two leaders discussed the full gamut of India-UAE relations. India-UAE relations were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2015 after Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the UAE.
About 3.5 million Indians live in the UAE.
