CEPA boosts India-UAE trade, strengthening ties and fostering collaboration across key sectors

India-UAE Trade Reaches New Heights, Driven by CEPA Success

New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) – The bilateral trade between India and the UAE has soared to unprecedented levels, propelled by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated during the India-UAE Strategic Dialogue. The event, co-chaired alongside India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Thursday, marked a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the two nations.

CEPA: A Game-Changer for Bilateral Trade

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized how the CEPA has revolutionized trade connections between India and the United Arab Emirates. “The success of CEPA has propelled our bilateral trade to unprecedented heights. Stronger trade, investment, and cooperation across important industries have been fostered by this agreement’s significant reduction of barriers,” he said. Implementing CEPA has been crucial to releasing economic potential and paving the stage for long-term expansion in industries including technology, education, and energy.

Strengthening Strategic Ties

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the significance of the growing connection between the UAE and India while speaking at the Strategic Dialogue. “This conversation demonstrates our shared commitment to promoting mutual prosperity and guaranteeing long-term sustainable progress, underscoring the importance of our enduring and developing relationship,” he said. The minister was upbeat about the future, saying that the two countries’ continued cooperation provides a strong basis for sustainability and innovation, opening doors to a more robust and prosperous future.

Key Areas of Cooperation

The discussion covered on a number of important topics of shared concern, such as nuclear energy, food security, renewable energy, and essential minerals. In order to ensure a dependable and sustainable energy transition, Sheikh Abdullah underlined the UAE’s dedication to a low-carbon future through nuclear energy breakthroughs.

The joint polar research program, which demonstrated India and the UAE’s cooperative efforts to address global issues like resource management, climate change, and technology innovation, was a noteworthy highlight. “With these collaborations, we are investigating fresh paths of collaboration and implementing creative strategies that will propel our relationship to previously unheard-of heights,” Sheikh Abdullah said.

Connectivity and Technological Advancement

The two countries were found to be vitally connected by air transport, with hundreds of weekly flights enhancing both economic and interpersonal ties. The top diplomat for the United Arab Emirates also emphasized the role that supercomputing, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced sciences play in advancing contemporary solutions and influencing the future. “These domains will enable us to push limits, spearhead innovative developments, and address pressing issues with both dexterity and vision,” he stated.

Promoting Tolerance and Combating Extremism

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized that in order to preserve harmonious and cohesive civilizations, it is critical to combat extremism. Extremist beliefs frequently have disastrous results because they feed off of division, fear, and miscommunication. He said, “We can build society where differences are celebrated rather than feared by encouraging tolerance and mutual respect for diverse cultures, beliefs, and traditions.”

Expanding Global Collaboration

Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the importance of trilateral initiatives and the enormous potential for cooperation with third countries in South America, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and other territories. He pointed out that these programs establish avenues for building relationships, establishing trust, and providing significant solutions that leave enduring, constructive legacies.

High-Level Participation

The UAE’s commitment to this partnership was demonstrated by the presence of notable individuals in the delegation, including Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; and Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation. Discussions among the group focused on common objectives in the strategic and economic spheres.

External Affairs Minister’s Perspective

EAM S. Jaishankar praised the Strategic Dialogue as an effective platform for translating leadership guidance into actionable outcomes. “Delighted to co-chair the 4th India-UAE Strategic Dialogue with UAE DPM & FM @ABZayed. A very productive exchange on promising domains and key interests,” Jaishankar shared on social media, expressing optimism about the future of the India-UAE partnership.

A Vision for the Future

The India-UAE Strategic Dialogue and the ongoing CEPA-driven trade achievements underscore the two countries’ shared vision for a prosperous and sustainable future. Building on this strong foundation, India and the UAE are poised to reach even greater heights in their bilateral relationship, fostering innovation, connectivity and collaboration in the future.
