Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum played an important role in strengthening UAE-Uzbekistan relations during his official visit to Uzbekistan. Along with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshit Kodjev, Sheikh Hamdan signed a number of important agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs), marking a significant expansion of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

One of the key agreements signed focused on mutual legal assistance in civil and commercial matters. The agreement was formalized by UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei and Uzbekistan’s Justice Minister Akbar Doshkulov. The agreement is designed to enhance cooperation in legal and judicial matters between the two countries, particularly by providing mechanisms to improve access to courts and law enforcement in disputes related to movable property and the enforcement of judicial decisions.

E-commerce also took center stage with UAE Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Duq Al Marri and Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister Zurabek Mirzamahmutov signing a memorandum of understanding to promote cross-border trade through digitalisation. The MoU aims to modernize trade practices by promoting sustainable e-commerce solutions and leveraging technology to improve bilateral trade.

Higher education was another focal point. UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kungirodbai Sharibov signed a memorandum of understanding to promote knowledge transfer and innovation. A logistics and commerce deal was signed by Sherif Rakhmanov, the deputy mayor of Tashkent, and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulaym, the CEO of DP World. While a separate agreement between DP World and Uzbekistan’s Reconstruction and establishment Fund seeks to launch cooperative initiatives in the logistics industry, the MoU aims to support the establishment of free zones and logistics hubs.

The governments of Tashkent and Dubai have decided to work together to create smart, sustainable cities. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed by Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Buranovich and Dubai Municipality Director General Daoud Al Hajri, centers on green practices, digital transformation, and municipal innovation.

Furthermore, a memorandum of agreement was signed by Dubai Chambers and the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the aim of enhancing trade relations, encouraging investment, and generating fresh prospects for the private sector. The pact aims to exchange best practices in order to foster economic progress.

The agreements were a part of Sheikh Hamdan’s far-reaching journey, which also featured high-level gatherings with senior authorities and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The visit demonstrates the UAE’s dedication to fortifying its relations with Uzbekistan, as the two nations search for fresh chances for collaboration, especially in the area of knowledge sharing. The first retreat in Tashkent focused on the significance of increasing strategic bilateral partnerships and exchanging government knowledge.

The signing of these agreements is a significant development in UAE-Uzbekistan relations, opening the door for deeper cooperation in legal, economic, educational and infrastructure sectors.
