Abu Dhabi Business Week Drives Growth with Key Discussions
The second day of Abu Dhabi Business Week (ADBW), which is sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, was successfully concluded with important announcements and thought-provoking conversations aimed at promoting business expansion in the Emirate.
The event, which was organized by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), included a variety of sessions that addressed important topics like manufacturing, industrialization, family businesses, entrepreneurship, and procurement. With the aim of opening up new doors and promoting economic development in Abu Dhabi, these talks gave participants insightful information.
The day began with the Al Multaqa Quarterly Meeting, where ADCCI unveiled its newly developed roadmap designed to empower the private sector and foster economic growth.The meeting highlighted key strategic pillars aimed at nurturing talent, promoting innovation, and encouraging entrepreneurship as key drivers for the future. H.E. Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman of ADCCI, outlined the vision for a brighter business future, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and investment opportunities within Abu Dhabi.
The Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit (GMIS), which was attended by government officials and industry experts, was one of the event’s main attractions. Key viewpoints on the UAE’s industrial development were exchanged by Luomei Shu, Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and H.E. Osama Amir Mohamed Fadhel, Co-Chair of GMIS. Thought leaders from Siemens Energy and the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) highlighted the importance of innovation in determining the sector’s future during the summit, which featured talks on industrial safety, resilience, and technical breakthroughs.
The Family Business Forum focused on the challenges and opportunities within family-owned businesses, with a particular emphasis on the importance of leadership diversity. The forum featured a fireside chat on “Women in Family Businesses: Shaping the Future of Leadership,” where female leaders discussed their significant role in driving business transformation. H.E. Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri delivered a keynote address on the vital contribution of family offices to economic growth and investment.
The Procurement Forum brought attention to the powerful role of procurement in Abu Dhabi’s economy, with a keynote from Sarah Cocker, Managing Director of Amplify. Featuring important figures from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, the forum promoted conversations on investment prospects and the growth of industrial ecosystems.
During the Startup Sprint session, corporate executives and entrepreneurs talked about how the world of entrepreneurship is changing and shared useful tips and tactics for creating profitable companies. The event began with a keynote address by ADCCI Board Member H.E. Khaled Al Fahim, who discussed the significance of entrepreneurship as a growth engine. Netflix co-founder Marc Randolph gave insights from his experience as an entrepreneur, and the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) unveiled its new plan to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s startup scene.
Additionally, the MZN Hub was unveiled as a key initiative to support the startup community, providing entrepreneurs with access to resources and programs that can help them scale and succeed. The Hub combines three core elements: MZN Venture Studios, Light Manufacturing Units, and MZN Venture Capital, designed to create a powerful platform for startups to thrive.
Abu Dhabi Business Week, which continues until December 6, 2024 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), is a dynamic and significant event to foster collaboration among global industry leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators.
It provides a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to connect, share insights and explore business opportunities across a range of sectors including sustainability, AI, technology and family business.
