GAIL signs 10-year LNG deal with UAE
GAIL strengthens LNG portfolio with UAE's ADNOC Gas partnership

GAIL, India’s leading gas company, has significantly bolstered its liquefied natural gas (LNG) portfolio through a strategic partnership with the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) ADNOC Gas. In a transformative move, GAIL is set to procure 0.5 million tonnes of LNG annually for the next decade, marking a pivotal step in meeting the escalating demand for natural gas in India.
The recent collaboration with ADNOC Gas solidifies GAIL’s commitment to diversifying its LNG portfolio, ensuring a consistent and stable supply of natural gas to meet the burgeoning energy needs of India. This long-term contract with ADNOC Gas, scheduled to commence deliveries in 2026, is poised to play a crucial role in bridging the demand-supply gap in India’s natural gas sector.
Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL, underscored the strategic importance of the agreement with ADNOC Gas in fostering enduring partnerships within the energy domain. This move aligns with GAIL’s vision of positioning itself as a key player in the global LNG market, emphasizing a dedication to long-term sustainability and strategic alliances.
Notably, the agreement with ADNOC Gas is the second major long-term LNG purchase deal inked by GAIL in the same month. Prior to this, GAIL had entered into a significant pact with global commodity trader Vitol, committing to the purchase of one million tonnes of LNG annually for ten years, also set to commence in 2026. This dual approach exemplifies GAIL’s proactive strategy in securing reliable and diverse sources of LNG to effectively cater to India’s evolving energy requirements.
GAIL’s recent agreements with both ADNOC Gas and Vitol reflect the company’s strategic foresight and proactive stance in addressing India’s growing demand for natural gas. By forging strong and diverse partnerships, GAIL is not only ensuring a steady supply of LNG but is also solidifying its role as a cornerstone in India’s dynamic and evolving energy landscape for the foreseeable future.
