Emirates Red Crescent’s Compassionate Gesture: Iftar for Syrian and Jordanian Families in Mrajeeb Al Fhood Camp

Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), under the esteemed guidance of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes by organizing a heartfelt iftar for 200 families hailing from Syria and underprivileged Jordanian families. This significant event, held at the Mrajeeb Al Fhood camp in northern Jordan, served as a poignant testament to the UAE’s dedication to alleviating the plight of vulnerable communities during the holy month of Ramadan.

Headed by Hassan Al Qaidi, the Emirati relief team stationed at the camp meticulously orchestrated the iftar gathering, which coincided with the approaching World Orphans Day on April 20. The event was imbued with a profound sense of compassion and solidarity, aimed at bringing solace and joy to the hearts of orphans amidst the challenges they face. With meticulous planning and heartfelt intentions, the iftar meals were not only distributed within the confines of the camp but also extended to reach those in need beyond its premises, exemplifying the spirit of generosity and inclusivity that defines the UAE’s humanitarian efforts.

Throughout the sacred month of Ramadan, the dedicated Emirati relief team has remained steadfastly engaged in various charitable endeavors across Jordan. Their tireless efforts reflect the UAE’s enduring pledge to stand in solidarity with the most vulnerable members of society and provide them with much-needed support and assistance.

Established in 2013 through a collaborative effort between the UAE and Jordan, the Mrajeeb Al Fhood camp has emerged as a beacon of hope and resilience for refugees fleeing the devastating conflict in Syria. Situated approximately 40km from the Jordanian-Syrian border, the camp provides essential shelter, protection, and humanitarian assistance to displaced individuals and families, embodying the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian principles and values.

In March of this year, Emirates Red Crescent launched a monumental Dh37.6 million ($10.2 million) Ramadan campaign, aimed at supporting families in need both within the UAE and across the globe. With a noble mission to assist 1.8 million individuals spanning 44 countries across Asia, Europe, and South America, the campaign epitomizes the UAE’s unwavering commitment to global humanitarianism. From providing clothing and food parcels to organizing iftar meals, the campaign underscores the nation’s dedication to spreading compassion, solidarity, and hope to those in need, embodying the true essence of Ramadan’s spirit of giving and kindness.
