Emirates Post releases stamps for upcoming UAE space mission

Commemorative Stamps Honor First Emirati Astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori's Journey to ISS

Emirates Post Issues Special Stamps to Celebrate UAE Space Mission

Emirates Post, in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), will issue a series of commemorative stamps on September 25 to celebrate the UAE Astronaut Programme. This significant event marks the first Emirati astronaut, Hazzaa AlMansoori, traveling to the International Space Station (ISS). The launch of these stamps is a historic moment, coming 55 years after Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the father of Dubai, issued a stamp commemorating the American astronauts’ first trip to outer space under the theme “Honouring Astronauts.”

The special-edition series comprises six distinct designs. These stamps feature prime astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori and backup astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi. Additionally, the stamps highlight the Soyuz MS spacecraft, the International Space Station, and the logo for the September 25 mission, “Zayed’s Ambition.” The logo prominently displays an outline of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s image, aptly titled “Zayed’s Ambition,” symbolizing the mission’s dedication to his visionary legacy.

Abdulla M Alashram, acting group CEO of Emirates Post Group, expressed his pride and enthusiasm for this initiative. He stated, “In 1964, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum issued a stamp celebrating astronauts and space sciences, demonstrating the nation’s foresight and vision. It is incredible that, in 55 years, this ambition has now been turned into a reality, and the UAE is getting closer to achieving its goal of becoming a leader in the space industry.” This issuance of commemorative stamps not only celebrates a historical milestone but also underscores the UAE’s long-standing commitment to advancing in space exploration.

He further added, “The UAE space mission will mark an important milestone in the UAE’s expanding space industry and inspire a new generation by showing them that anything is possible.” Alashram emphasized the pride felt for Hazzaa AlMansouri and Sultan AlNeyadi, who represent the pinnacle of the UAE’s ambitions. He noted the honor of partnering with MBRSC to issue a series of commemorative stamps that celebrate this momentous occasion and highlight the UAE’s role in space exploration. On behalf of Emirates Post, Alashram extended his best wishes to both astronauts for a successful and historic journey.

Emirates Post is issuing 150,000 commemorative stamps, which will be available at Emirates Post Central Happiness Centres starting from September 25. This initiative not only commemorates the UAE’s monumental achievements in space but also continues the legacy of honoring those who venture beyond our planet. The issuance of these stamps serves as a symbol of national pride and a beacon of inspiration for future generations, reflecting the UAE’s unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of space exploration and achieving new milestones in the industry.
