EGA First in UAE to Implement Centralized Digital GHG Tracking System

Emirates Global Aluminum Uses Advanced Emissions Tech for UAE’s 2050 Net-Zero Target

EGA has deployed the technology following a Ministry of Climate Change and Environment mandate to report greenhouse gas emissions data to monitor companies meeting their obligations towards the 2050 net-zero emissions target.

Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) is the first company in the UAE to implement a digital greenhouse gas emissions monitoring system. This technology will significantly accelerate the company’s decarbonisation drive, increasing transparency in recording GHG emissions aligned with the UAE’s national MRV transparency system.

EGA’s emissions monitoring technology is a centralized digital platform that measures, reports and verifies Scope 1 and 2 emissions data. As the system is a digital platform, it will fully automate the greenhouse gas emission monitoring process for EGA, with independent third-party auditors monitoring, documenting and verifying the data.

Data will also be communicated to relevant stakeholders, including government agencies and EGA clients, using a standardized dashboard.

The National MRV Transparency System supports the implementation of the National Climate Action Plan, meets international reporting obligations, monitors progress and mandates the National Air Quality Agenda 2031.

Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, said: “Our GHG MRV solution will enable EGA to meet evolving regulatory requirements while maintaining transparency across the value chain of our production processes and auditability of our emissions data. This tool is an important step towards achieving our bold ambition to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, embedding sustainability in everything we do.
