Dubai Police assess arrangements for New Year’s Eve celebrations

The meeting evaluates joint security strategies involving involved entities

Dubai: In preparation for the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations, Dubai Police conducted a comprehensive review of their arrangements, emphasizing collaboration with strategic partners, shopping malls, and major residential communities. Chaired by Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, the meeting focused on various aspects critical to ensuring a safe and secure celebration.

The discussions encompassed an array of elements, including the evaluation of feedback and anticipated challenges during the festivities, especially concerning venue security, operational protocols, and communication systems. Significant attention was devoted to Dubai Tourist Police procedures and security arrangements, particularly in residential communities, to guarantee the safety of all attendees.

Key attendees at the meeting included high-ranking officials from Dubai Police, representatives from the General Department of Operations and Criminal Investigations, Dubai Tourist Police, and notable figures from the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO). Their presence underscored the collaborative approach taken by various stakeholders to ensure the safety of attendees across Dubai.

Major General Al Mansouri highlighted the magnitude of New Year’s celebrations, attracting a diverse audience both locally and internationally. He assured that meticulous arrangements were in place to facilitate smooth celebrations across multiple locations. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, especially in managing anticipated traffic congestion, he highlighted the need for seamless coordination among entities.

Dr. Maitha Buhumaid commended Dubai Police for their unwavering commitment to security and law enforcement, ensuring that all events in Dubai adhere to the highest safety standards. She stressed the significance of such preparatory meetings in formulating comprehensive plans for major events in Dubai, given the city’s increasing global attraction.

Scenario simulation:

As part of their preparations, Dubai Police’s Events Security Committee, in partnership with the Dubai Police Resilience Centre, conducted a scenario-based exercise to assess readiness. The exercise involved multiple governmental, semi-governmental, and corporate entities, aiming to address potential challenges that might arise during the celebrations.

Major General Rashid Khalifa Al Falasi, Director of the Department of Protective Security and Emergency at Dubai Police, underscored the exercise’s strategic objectives in evaluating entities’ preparedness to handle various scenarios during the celebrations.

Major General Al Mansouri concluded the meeting by urging intensified efforts and unified collaboration among entities to ensure a safe and enjoyable festive environment. This collective endeavor aims not only to uphold Dubai’s distinguished global reputation but also to ensure the well-being and security of all attendees during this significant event.
