Indian Consulate in Dubai Alerts Expats to Immigration Scam Calls
The Indian Consulate in Dubai has warned foreigners of fraudulent calls purporting to be from Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra regarding immigration matters.
In a social media post on X shared in several Indian languages on Friday, the task force urged expatriates in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to be aware of scam calls impersonating the Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra Phone Number: 80046342.
The consulate said the caller would try to extort money by claiming to settle some non-existent immigration matter.
“Consulate does not call Indian nationals on any issue related to immigration. Please do not engage with such callers and do not transfer any money,” the embassy said in the post.
“Consulate does not ask for personal information, OTP, pin numbers or bank details,” it added.
The UAE implemented a two-month visa amnesty program that began on September 1.
Recently, the Federal Tax Authority of the United Arab Emirates warned residents of email phishing scams by cybercriminals and urged them to be vigilant.
