Dubai Declares January 1, 2024, Official New Year Holiday

Dubai Government Grants Three-Day Weekend for New Year Celebrations

The Dubai Government Human Resources Department has announced Monday, January 1, as an official holiday for government entities to mark New Year’s Day. Work will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. However, departments with employees in shifts or involved in public service operations will set working hours as per operational needs.

This declaration aligns with the UAE’s broader public holiday announcements, where the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation confirmed January 1, 2024, as a paid holiday for private sector workers. This decision follows the Cabinet Resolution defining approved public holidays for both government and private sectors in 2024.

Additionally, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources earlier announced the New Year holiday for federal government entities on January 1.

These announcements collectively extend the New Year holiday observance across public and private sectors in the UAE, offering a consistent break for workers to celebrate the occasion.
