CBI Repatriates Three Fugitives from UAE for Serious Crimes

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has brought back three individuals from the United Arab Emirates who were wanted in India for serious criminal offenses. The men were facing charges including sexual assault, cheating, forgery, and extortion.

Suhail Basheer, accused of raping a juvenile under the POCSO Act in Kerala, has been on the run since the complaint was lodged at the Muvattupuzha police station. Basheer was tracked down in the UAE and returned by a Kerala Police escort squad via Cochin International Airport on April 2 after receiving a Red Corner Notice from Interpol in December 2024.

Tofik Najir Khan, wanted by Gujarat Police in a cheating and forgery case registered at Bavlu police station, was similarly located and extradited. A Red Corner Notice had been issued in February, leading to his arrest and return on the same day as Basheer.

The third accused, Aditya Jain, a member of a global criminal organisation, was deported to India on April 4. He was wanted by the Rajasthan Police in connection with several extortion incidents, including the use of VOIP calls to businessmen, which were reported to the Kuchaman City police station.

The CBI, working in collaboration with Interpol and UAE authorities, facilitated this high-profile extradition, which demonstrates strong international police cooperation.
