Arab Parliament Speaker Condemns Israel’s West Bank Annexation and Settlement Plans
The Israeli Finance Minister’s call to annex the West Bank and establish settlements in the Gaza Strip, as well as the Israeli government’s official release of maps that incorporate Arab and Palestinian territory, were denounced by Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament.
His steadfast opposition to such requests that aim to deny the Palestinian people their rights and prevent them from establishing an independent state was reaffirmed.
Al Yamahi said in a statement released today that the aggressive activities of the Israeli occupation constitute a flagrant and serious breach of all international legitimacy, international law, and international humanitarian law, and that a strong international response is needed to stop them.
The Speaker of the Arab Parliament emphasized that the international community, sovereign states, and regional and global parliaments must take on their moral and legal obligations and put pressure on the Israeli occupation to stop its deceptive claims and actions that violate the rights, lands, and sovereignty of the people and endanger regional security and stability.
He has been working for the past 15 months to stop the genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people and to implement international legal resolutions and Arab peace initiatives.
