Dubai [United Arab Emirates], September 5: The United Arab Emirates chaired the meetings of the 114th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council (AESC) held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, Egypt.
The council’s ministerial meeting, chaired by the Minister of Economy, Abdullah Bin Duq Al Marri, focused on promoting joint Arab cooperation in the economic and social sectors. Discussions include strategies to implement management decisions from previous sessions, taking into account current regional and international developments.
At the beginning of his address to the Council, Bin Touk thanked Yousef Alshamali, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, for his sincere efforts and outstanding role during the previous session of the Council when Jordan chaired it. He also thanked the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, represented by Secretary General Ahmed Abul Caid, for their exceptional efforts in preparing and organizing the current session.
Abdullah Bin Douq emphasized that the AESC represents one of the main Arab platforms for the discussion and coordination of joint efforts to create new economic and development opportunities that enhance the growth and stability of Arab economies. “The meeting of the current session of the Council is an important platform to push development efforts among member states to higher levels, contribute to the development of joint development activities, and achieve Arab economic and social integration,” he added.
