ADNOC Gas and EWEC Seal $10 Billion Deal to Advance UAE’s Energy Transition

ADNOC Gas and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) have signed a major partnership agreement aimed at advancing the UAE’s energy transition. The agreement, valued at $10 billion, is centered around a 10-year flexible natural gas sales and purchase agreement (SPA) between ADNOC Gas Facilities LLC and EWEC. The strategic collaboration was officially announced during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, on the sidelines of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), attended by key executives from both companies.

Fatima AI Nuaimi, CEO of ADNOC Gas, stressed the importance of the partnership, saying, “We greatly value our long-standing partnership with EWEC, which supports the rise of digitalization, resilient connectivity and growing technology adoption across the UAE. By collaborating across the industrial value chain, we aim to leverage Abu Dhabi’s vast gas reserves to ensure the UAE’s self-sufficiency, continuing to fuel two-thirds of the country’s industries and promoting sustainable growth and diversification.”

The agreement highlights the growing importance of natural gas in the UAE’s energy transition. Natural gas will be a vital link between conventional and sustainable energy as EWEC works to include clean and renewable energy sources. “This historic agreement with ADNOC Gas ensures a stable and flexible supply of natural gas, essential to enable the UAE’s energy transition,” said Othman Al Ali, CEO of EWEC, confirming the partnership’s significance in the nation’s long-term energy strategy.

Natural gas is essential to reaching the UAE’s net zero aspiration by 2050, which is what the two businesses hope to contribute to.
“This partnership strengthens EWEC’s ability to deliver a safe, efficient and decarbonised water and electricity system, while supporting the country’s broader sustainability and economic objectives,” A1 Ali further explained.

Through this collaboration, ADNOC Gas and EWEC aim to strengthen the UAE’s energy security, promote sustainable development and strengthen the country’s position as a leader in the global energy transition. The agreement not only ensures a stable supply of natural gas, but also reinforces both companies’ commitment to reducing emissions and advancing the UAE’s strategic energy and environmental goals.

This major step in the UAE’s energy evolution is expected to benefit both companies as they align their operations with the country’s broader vision for a sustainable and diversified economy.
