New Marriage Loan Program Offers Up to AED150,000 to Support Emirati Couples

Abu Dhabi Launches Interest-Free Marriage Loan Initiative for UAE Nationals

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (SSA) has officially launched the Marriage Loan initiative, a significant component of the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy and the Emirati Family Growth Programme. This initiative was introduced by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi and represents a major step in supporting newly married Emirati couples by providing essential financial assistance.

Enhancing Quality of Life for Families

The Marriage Loan initiative is designed to align with the goals of the Emirati Family Growth Programme, which focuses on improving the quality of life for families, youth, and parents across Abu Dhabi. By offering an interest-free loan of up to AED150,000, the initiative aims to provide crucial support to newly married UAE Nationals, helping them establish a secure financial foundation as they begin their life together. This support is intended to alleviate some of the financial pressures associated with starting a new family, enabling couples to focus on building a strong and stable relationship.

Financial Support for Emirati Couples

Eligible participants in this initiative are UAE Nationals who are newly married, employed, and hold an Abu Dhabi family book. The Marriage Loan is specifically designed to address the financial needs of these couples, providing them with a significant amount of assistance to help manage the costs associated with marriage. The loan is interest-free, making it a cost-effective way for couples to gain the financial support they need without incurring additional expenses.

Encouraging Traditional Values

One of the key aspects of the Marriage Loan initiative is its alignment with UAE cultural heritage and wedding traditions. The program encourages young Emiratis to marry in accordance with traditional values, promoting the establishment of strong, resilient, and cohesive families. This initiative underscores the importance of maintaining cultural practices while also supporting the financial stability of new families. By fostering adherence to these traditions, the initiative aims to contribute to the broader goal of community cohesion and stability.

Strengthening Family Cohesion

Abdulla Al Ameri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, highlighted that the Marriage Loan initiative underscores the Abu Dhabi Government’s commitment to strengthening family cohesion and social bonds. This initiative is part of a larger effort to enhance population growth among UAE citizens and support the formation of stable, enduring families. The Marriage Loan initiative is a testament to SSA’s strategic focus on reinforcing the stability of Emirati families and maximizing their positive impact on society.

Commitment to Transparency and Service

Ahmed Al Azeezi, Executive Director of the Social Support Applications Sector at the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, emphasized that the Marriage Loan initiative is a continuation of the Authority’s efforts to enhance Abu Dhabi’s social care system. The SSA is committed to delivering this new service with high standards of governance and transparency. This commitment ensures that the Marriage Loan service, along with existing social support services, meets the needs of those preparing for marriage in Abu Dhabi.

Application Process and Eligibility

The Marriage Loan initiative is available to newly-wed UAE Nationals who meet specific criteria. The husband must hold a Family Book issued in Abu Dhabi, be at least 21 years old, and the wife must be at least 18 years old at the time of marriage. The application for the loan must be submitted by the husband, whose monthly employment income should be less than AED60,000. Additionally, the applicant must be registered on the Medeem Digital Platform to apply for the loan.

The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority will soon announce the detailed channels through which the Marriage Loan service can be accessed, as well as the required documentation for application. Applications are set to begin in early September 2024, with further information to be provided regarding the submission process and specific requirements. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in supporting Emirati families and contributing to the overall goal of enhancing family wellbeing in Abu Dhabi.
