Abu Dhabi ADGM Unveils New Remote Work Regulations Effective April 1, 2025
Abu Dhabi :On Thursday, January 9, the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Registration Authority (RA) issued new regulations that will allow remote hiring and more flexible work schedules from April 1, 2025.
The decision was made in light of ADGM’s revised employment regulations that allow for flexible scheduling in line with changing global workplace trends.
The new employment regulations will replace the 2019 regulations and will include the following key changes:
The term “employee” will be changed to allow companies to offer more flexible work schedules and hire remote workers.
Employee rights: Emphasis will be placed on part-time employees and details will be provided.
Work permit and visa procedures: We will streamline the processes for acquiring and renouncing work permits and visas.
Workplace discrimination: The rules will give employers more responsibility for dealing with retaliation and discrimination in the workplace.
These rules are intended to encourage innovation and development in the workplace, give businesses and employees the clarity they need, and guarantee stability and security for all stakeholders, according to Hamad Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive of the ADGM Registration Authority.
