The tournament venues are spread across premier sporting locations, with Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub and Al Forsan International Sports Resort hosting most events. The Al Wathba Cycle Track will host the cycling competitions, while the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba will host the running races.
Encouraging Teamwork, Health, and Fitness
The tournament, which is held in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan, is a crucial component of a larger employee engagement program that aims to promote positivity, strengthen relationships at work, and advance both professional and personal growth. The occasion encourages government workers to embrace an active lifestyle that improves their physical and emotional health by fostering a culture of fitness.
Participants will compete for a total prize pool exceeding Dh1.3 million, with all events scheduled to take place in the evenings from 9 PM onwards.
A Goal of a Healthier Workplace
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s Secretary-General, Aref Hamad Al Awani, stressed that this year’s competition builds on the accomplishments of past events and continues to provide a forum for promoting a healthy, balanced lifestyle among government workers.
“Our goal is to drive a significant transformation in the daily habits of Abu Dhabi government employees by promoting research-backed fitness methodologies. The Abu Dhabi Government Games is a flagship initiative designed to integrate sports and well-being into employees’ lives while fostering camaraderie in a competitive yet supportive environment,” he stated.
He also highlighted how the championship fosters personal relationships within government institutions and helps employees connect with each other outside of their regular work environment.
Commitment to Employee Wellbeing
The Abu Dhabi Government Games demonstrate the emirate’s commitment to prioritizing employee morale and well-being. Given the increasing importance of mental and physical health worldwide, the event provides a useful forum for cross-cultural communication, collaboration and coordination between various government institutions. Abu Dhabi hopes to create a more dynamic work environment and a healthier, more productive workforce by promoting active sports engagement.
