Mustafizur Rahman warms up for IPL 2025 with impactful performance vs UAE

Impactful Bowling Performance Helps Bangladesh Secure Series Lead; Mustafizur Granted NOC for IPL 2025 with Delhi Capitals

Mustafizur Rahman Stars for Bangladesh in T20I Against UAE Ahead of IPL 2025

Mustafizur Rahman showcased his excellent form for Bangladesh in the opening T20 International match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday, May 17, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
His IPL 2025 campaign began shortly before this performance. The left-arm fast bowler made an impression with a cost-effective and efficient spell of 4 overs, 17 runs, and 2 wickets on a pitch that favored batsmen.

With Asif Khan comfortably settled at 40 runs off 16 deliveries, the UAE appeared to be on track to win, requiring 38 runs off the final 18 balls as they chased a goal of 192. But Mustafizur’s vital bowling in the 18th over, in which he gave up just three runs, changed the tide of the match in Bangladesh’s favor.

By taking two crucial wickets, namely Muhammad Zuhaib and Alishan Sharafu, in a crucial session, the 29-year-old helped put an end to the UAE’s late batting rally. Despite strong performances from Muhammad Waseem (54), Rahul Chopra (35), and Asif Khan (42), the UAE could not chase down the target, falling short by 27 runs. This victory gave Bangladesh a 1-0 lead in the ongoing T20I series.

Mustafizur Rahman Receives NOC for IPL Participation

Mustafizur Rahman was recently signed by the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise for Rs 6 crore as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who withdrew from IPL 2025 citing personal reasons. The announcement initially caused some confusion when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) stated they were unaware of the deal.

Subsequently, the BCB issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) permitting Mustafizur to participate in Delhi Capitals’ remaining three matches in the IPL league stage. After completing his IPL commitments, Mustafizur is expected to rejoin Bangladesh’s national team ahead of the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan. Due to his IPL schedule, he will miss Bangladesh’s second T20I against UAE on May 19.

In an official statement, the BCB confirmed:
“Following the decision by BCB Cricket Operations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman to participate in the ongoing IPL 2025 in India, from May 18 to May 24, 2025.”

Delhi Capitals’ Current Standing in IPL 2025

The Delhi Capitals, who have 13 points from 11 games and a good net run rate of +0.362, are presently ranked fifth in the IPL 2025 points standings. With six wins to date, DC is still very much in the running for the tournament’s remaining games.
