Dubai-Based Indian Expat Among Victims of Pahalgam Terror Attack
An Indian expatriate based in Dubai, Niraj Udhwani, was tragically killed in a terror attack in the Pahalgam area of India-administered Kashmir on Tuesday. Niraj, 33, a finance professional, was holidaying with his wife, Aayushi, when gunmen opened fire in the popular tourist zone. The entire community is in shock, according to a family friend who spoke to Gulf News. This is especially true as the majority of their group had already left for Dubai, but Niraj and Aayushi remained in Kashmir after attending a wedding.
The Cognita Schools community, where Niraj was employed, expressed profound sorrow at his departure and called him a valued and well-liked member of the finance team. They commended his warmth and commitment.
Niraj, originally from Jaipur, Rajasthan, had lived in Dubai since childhood and had studied at The Indian High School Dubai before graduating from the University of Rajasthan. He had experience in a variety of finance positions, such as education and insurance, and was an ACCA-qualified accountant.
Aayushi was at the hotel during the attack and heard gunfire and shouts from victims. Later, she learned that Niraj had been murdered. His family is demanding that the attackers face harsh punishment, and his body is currently being transferred to Jaipur. Tourists and a local pony handler were among the 26 people killed in the attack, while numerous others were injured.
