UAE Space Company launches Earth observation spacecraft
Abu Dhabi's Space42 expands Foresight network with ICEYE, advancing Earth observation and disaster management

Space42 and ICEYE Launch Foresight-2 Satellite, Advancing UAE’s Space Tech Leadership
The second phase of Space42’s constellation of Foresight satellites was successfully launched on Tuesday in collaboration with ICEYE.
In an effort to compete with the world’s top space technology companies, Abu Dhabi-based Space42 launched the second phase of its Foresight satellite network on Tuesday.
ICEYE, which offers high-resolution photos of the Earth’s surface, is collaborating with the initiative.
Regardless of the weather or amount of sunlight, the satellites will deliver high-quality photographs every single day. This will help them tackle important issues like disaster relief, marine surveillance, and urban transportation by enabling them to detect and see minuscule objects and minute surface changes from space.
In order to provide real-time, high-definition photographs of ground conditions in the Middle East and beyond, the orbiting spacecraft will often visit the region.
On a Transporter-12 Rideshare mission, the Foresight-2 spacecraft was launched aboard a SpaceX rocket. Contact has been made, and regular early operations are under progress.
SPACE42 and ICEYE launched a collaborative venture to produce SAR satellites in the United Arab Emirates in December of last year.
The UAE government awards a $5 billion contract to SPACE42.
In 2023, the United Arab Emirates plans to launch its Earth Observation Space Program.
SPACE42 was established last year after the successful merger of Bayanat and Yahsat. The company’s major shareholders include G42, Mubadala and International Holding Company.
