UAE and Malaysia Strengthen Ties: Sheikh Mohammed Meets PM Anwar Ibrahim

His Highness On his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the ruler of Dubai. The talks, held at Zabeel Palace in Dubai, emphasized the close historical ties and strategic alliance between the two countries, and also explored new areas of cooperation

Developing Bilateral Partnerships
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the Malaysian leader and highlighted the long-standing friendship between the UAE and Malaysia. He emphasized the mutual commitment to forging closer bilateral connections that would be advantageous to both countries in a variety of ways. Both leaders wanted to build on the solid basis of cooperation that had been established over the years.

Promoting Economic and Private Sector Collaboration

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim lauded the UAE’s remarkable achievements on the global stage and expressed Malaysia’s keen interest in deepening cooperation with the UAE. Excellent Trade Relations
Both presidents acknowledged the robust economic ties between the UAE and Malaysia, making trade a primary topic of attention. Non-oil commerce between the two nations topped $4.9 billion in 2023, indicating a strengthening economic partnership. The $2.5 billion in non-oil commerce in the first half of 2024 alone demonstrates the benefits of mutual trade and ongoing expansion.

Malaysia is the UAE’s 12th largest trading partner in Asia and ranks fifth among ASEAN nations. The UAE, on the other hand, is Malaysia’s second-largest Arab commercial partner. Exploring further economic potential is made possible by this robust trading partnership.

A commitment to furthering the UAE-Malaysia Strategic Partnership was reaffirmed by the two presidents. The two countries hope to increase their competitiveness in the global market and create a more bright future by focusing on innovative and sustainable solutions.
