UAE Sends 23rd Relief Plane to Lebanon with 35 Tonnes of Medical Aid
Sharjah: As part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign, Beirut International Airport has received the 23rd UAE relief flight, which contains 35 tonnes of medical supplies, including advanced devices and equipment and medical essentials needed by hospitals and health centres across the country.
This additional medical assistance was provided in accordance with the directives of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and under the supervision of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for the Affairs of the Families of Martyrs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Vice President of Emirates International Aid, said that the UAE remains committed to mitigating the effects of the crisis that the Lebanese people have been facing over the past few months, particularly in the areas of health, social welfare and the economy.
“The need for essential medical supplies, equipment and supplies to match the enormous scale of the crisis has been greater than ever,” he noted.
Al Shamsi continued, “The 23rd relief flight arrived at Beirut International Airport as part of an extended series of UAE aid supplies to the Lebanese people by air and sea. The country will continue to provide unlimited support, not only to Lebanon, but to all countries and people affected by the consequences of conflicts and disasters. We are providing assistance to the people in need, in consultation with the relevant local and international authorities and relief agencies in Lebanon.”
The campaign, “The UAE Stands with Lebanon,” was launched in early October last year and consisted of two parts: official government assistance and public support.
Since the campaign began, the UAE has continued to provide large amounts of food parcels, medical supplies, and shelter kits, although the campaign ended in the first week of January.
