UAE Weather Update: Red and Yellow Alerts Issued for Fog; Cooler Temperatures Expected

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) in the United Arab Emirates has issued a red notice for fog on Friday morning, indicating a dangerous decrease in visibility between 3:30 and 9:30 in the morning. According to the advisory, horizontal visibility will be severely diminished in a number of locations throughout the nation, and conditions may occasionally get worse, particularly inside some interior regions. It is urged that drivers use caution because the dense fog can make driving hazardous and challenging.

A yellow alert for fog formation has also been issued by the NCM for the hours of 1:30 AM to 9:30 AM. According to the yellow notice, fog may affect both interior and coastal regions, and visibility in these places may worsen as the morning wears on. This alert denotes a moderate level of concern, especially in regions where sporadic fog formation is anticipated.

To ensure public safety, Abu Dhabi Police has urged motorists to be cautious, especially when driving in areas affected by fog. A post on social media platform X highlighted the reduced visibility caused by the fog, emphasizing the importance of adjusting driving speeds in accordance with the electronic speed limit signs displayed on road information boards. Drivers are advised to stay vigilant and maintain safe distances from other vehicles to avoid accidents.

Weather Forecast for Today
The day will be mostly sunny in the United Arab Emirates, while there is a chance of some cloud cover in some places. The hilly areas could see temperatures as low as 12ºC, according to the weather service’s estimate. This represents a significant decrease in temperature, particularly when compared to the warmer coastal areas.

The humidity is predicted to stay high, though, especially during the night and into Saturday morning. Some locations, such as Abu Dhabi and Razeen, might have humidity levels as high as 95%.
. As a result, mist or fog formation is anticipated in some internal regions, particularly in the early morning hours when moisture in the air is at its highest.
The increased humidity can make the weather feel warmer and more uncomfortable, especially during the night.

It is anticipated that the country will see light to moderate wind. Though they are not anticipated to be powerful enough to cause major disruptions, these winds may occasionally get fresher. The impact of the wind will probably be more apparent around the coast.

Sea Conditions
Light to moderate waves are predicted for the Arabian Gulf, with the potential for occasional rough seas. This implies that erratic seas could occasionally occur and affect boating and fishing, among other maritime operations. In contrast, the Oman Sea will continue to be mild and have generally calmer weather than the Arabian Gulf. Residents and mariners are encouraged to pay attention to the sea conditions, particularly if they want to be at sea.

Regional Weather: Saudi Arabia
A yellow alert for fog formation has also been issued by the NCM for the hours of 1:30 AM to 9:30 AM. According to the yellow notice, fog may affect both interior and coastal regions, and visibility in these places may worsen as the morning wears on. This alert denotes a moderate level of concern, especially in regions where sporadic fog formation is anticipated.

The rainfall in Makkah could also lead to flash flooding in vulnerable areas, further complicating travel and daily activities. People in affected regions are urged to take precautions and stay informed about the latest weather updates, as the situation could evolve rapidly.

Both the UAE and Saudi Arabia are facing challenging weather conditions in the coming days, with the UAE dealing with significant fog and reduced visibility, and Saudi Arabia experiencing thunderstorms and heavy rain. Residents and travelers in both countries are urged to stay updated on weather alerts and take all necessary safety measures to avoid accidents and disruptions during this period of variable weather.
