UAE Issues Updated List of Banned Items for Cabin and Check-in Baggage
Dubai: New guidelines about items prohibited in cabin and check-in baggage for flights between India and the United Arab Emirates have been issued by authorities. To prevent annoyance while traveling, passengers are encouraged to follow the rules set forth by airports, customs, and civil aviation authorities.
Some items permitted in check-in baggage may still be restricted in cabin luggage. Below is an overview of some items included in the updated restrictions:
1. Ghee
Aerosols and gels are included in the “liquids” category, which also contains ghee and butter. The cabin luggage limit for these products is 100 ml. However, travelers are permitted to bring up to five kilograms of ghee with them when they check in. Note that certain airports and airlines have complete bans on ghee. To ensure compliance, travelers are urged to review the relevant policies on the websites of the airline or the airport.
2. Pickles
The majority of pickles, with the exception of chili pickles, are permitted in both checked and cabin baggage. Because of safety concerns, chili pickles are not allowed on cabin baggage. For information on specific packing restrictions and requirements, passengers should speak with the airline.
3. Dried coconut, or copra
In India, travelers are expressly forbidden from bringing copra in their checked luggage by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). Passengers should refrain from packing this item in their luggage since it poses a safety concern.
4. E-cigarettes
E-cigarettes are prohibited in the cabin and in checked luggage. In order to prevent fines or confiscation at security checkpoints, travelers are urged to leave certain things behind.
5. Spices
Whole spices and spice powders are not permitted in cabin baggage but are allowed in check-in luggage under BCAS directives. Travelers are required to make sure they abide by the customs laws of the city or nation where they are going. They might consult the websites of airlines or airports for comprehensive instructions.
Extra Information
Both Indian and UAE customs laws must be understood by passengers visiting the UAE. Before packing, tourists should familiarize themselves with the extensive list of prohibited items given by the Federal Customs Authority in the United Arab Emirates. Passengers may guarantee a seamless journey and prevent delays by following these rules.
