UAE Sends 9th Flight of Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon: 37 Tonnes for Children and Women
ABU DHABI [UAE], October 11: As part of the ‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’ campaign, the United Arab Emirates has sent a plane carrying 37 tonnes of supplies for children and women in support of the Lebanese people.
The flight is the ninth delivery of humanitarian aid to Lebanon, orchestrated by President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. President’s Court and H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Presidential Court for Development and Veterans Affairs and President of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. The initiative reflects the UAE’s solidarity with the fraternal Lebanese people in light of the current urgent humanitarian situation.
Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropy Council, said this assistance is part of the steadfast vision and unwavering commitment of the wise leadership of the UAE. Bin Zayed Al Nahyan must provide an immediate response to such challenging humanitarian situations and pressing needs.
Al Hashimi added, “This assistance reflects the UAE’s unwavering and continuous support to the people of Lebanon, in line with the UAE’s efforts to consolidate global peace and stability”.
She underlined the UAE’s commitment to early recovery for countries and communities affected by humanitarian crises, especially the most vulnerable.
Since the launch of the ‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’ campaign, the total amount of aid given to Lebanon has reached 375 tonnes of food, medical and shelter items and provisions for children.
Notably, on September 30, the President of the United Arab Emirates ordered the release of US$100 million in humanitarian relief packages in support of the Lebanese people. His Highness also allocated $30 million in emergency aid to displaced Lebanese citizens in the Syrian Arab Republic.
