Berkeley Abu Dhabi’s PEARL program returns in September for its 7th edition
Abu Dhabi [UAE], August 12:Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is very pleased to announce the 7th edition of Berkeley Abu Dhabi’s Performing Arts and Leadership (PEARL) programme. Launched on September 9, the esteemed program is set to welcome talented musicians from the UAE and across the Middle East. Applications for the program are open until August 18th.
Weekly Innovation Intensive
The PEARL program is an intensive 12-week course organized by Berklee Abu Dhabi, the most prestigious music college in the Middle East. Berklee College of Music is world-renowned for its excellence in contemporary music and the performing arts. The PEARL program aims to cultivate the next generation of innovative musicians by providing a comprehensive learning experience that covers various aspects of the music industry.
Eligibility and Application Process
To qualify for the PEARL program, applicants must be actively involved in the music industry as singer-songwriters, recording artists, instrumentalists, producers, or DJs. Candidates must also submit demos of their original compositions along with live video performances as part of their application. The program covers all genres of music, including pop, rock, soul, R&B, rap, jazz, Arabic traditional and electronic music.
Program Benefits and Curriculum
Selected from a competitive pool of candidates, participants receive in-depth training in songwriting, music production, marketing, music business strategies and entrepreneurship. The curriculum is designed to provide emerging artists with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in the music industry.
Upon completion of the program, students will have the opportunity to write, record, and produce their own music. They will gain valuable industry insights and have the opportunity to make significant strides in their music careers both regionally and internationally. The program also provides access to the Berklee Abu Dhabi Scholarship Fund, which provides opportunities to pursue music education at Berklee College of Music campuses around the world.
Mentorship and Industry Expertise
Throughout the program, participants will be guided by a roster of esteemed musicians and faculty with over 100 years of experience. Prominent mentors include music producer Miklos Malek, pianist and songwriter Roger Rayan, director Gail Hedding, singer-songwriter and artistic director Meissa Karaa, and other music industry experts. This mentorship provides invaluable guidance and support to students in developing their musical talents.

Berklee Abu Dhabi was established in 2020 with the aim of revolutionizing arts education in the Middle East through a partnership between Berklee Music College and DCT Abu Dhabi.
