UAE Achieves 27.83% Clean Energy in Total Energy Mix, Aims for 32% by 2030
The UAE has made significant progress in clean energy production, with 27.83 percent of the country’s total energy mix coming from clean energy sources by 2023, according to Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure. The country is on track to achieve an ambitious target of 32 percent clean energy by 2030.
In an exclusive interview with Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS, AI Mazrouei highlighted the progress. “From 2019 to 2022, the UAE has succeeded in doubling its renewable energy capacity as part of the UAE Energy Strategy to triple installed capacity by 2030, towards our commitment to achieving the energy transition targets agreed by the UAE at COP28,” he said. Al Mazrui.
He also noted that renewable energy capacity will increase by 70 percent to reach 6.1 GW by 2023.
Al Mazrouei emphasized the UAE’s commitment to investing in clean energy. These initiatives are in line with the UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050.
In addition, Al Mazrouei said the UAE aims to reduce energy demand in the industrial sector by 33 percent by 2050. He also noted the approval in April 2023 of a new policy governing the energy services market aimed at strengthening intergovernmental cooperation. , private sector and energy companies.
