UAE schools revise schedules to cope with soaring temperatures

Ministry Updates School Timings, Advisor Training, and Secondary Education Pathways

UAE Schools Adjust Schedules to Combat Heat, Enhance Student Safety and Learning Quality

The UAE Ministry of Education has announced a change to school schedules in response to parent feedback and rising temperatures. This change will keep kids safe and comfortable throughout the hot months without sacrificing the quality of education.

The majority of schools nationwide will implement a new schedule starting on Monday, April 28: Monday through Thursday from 7:15 AM to 1:35 PM, and Friday from 7:15 AM to 11:00 AM. This change is consistent with the UAE’s flexible learning framework, which seeks to strike a balance between the country’s dedication to upholding high academic standards and its escalating climatic issues.

Updated Attendance Protocols

Schools have put in place clear attendance guidelines, opening their gates at 7:00 AM and closing them at 7:30 AM. Any late arrivals will need to be explained by a guardian directly to school officials, underlining the importance of punctuality in maintaining discipline and academic performance. Parents are urged to reinforce the new timetable at home to ensure a smooth transition for students.

Educational Advisor Training

The Ministry of Education has implemented specific training programmes for educational advisors in public and private schools as part of a differentiated initiative.
The training will focus on career counselling, individual counselling and the integration of contemporary tools to help students make informed educational decisions and ensure that their pathways are aligned with both their own goals and the needs of the labour market.

New Educational Pathways

In addition to these actions, the Ministry has implemented an updated secondary education educational route system. Only general and advanced curricula will be available under this revised structure, with curriculum modifications made to accommodate students’ academic talents and long-term objectives.
The program seeks to improve education and further customize it to meet the needs of each student and their success in the future.

These modifications are a part of a larger plan to improve academic success and student well-being by adjusting the UAE’s educational system to contemporary issues.
